Behind the Music
For people interested in songwriting, also for me in the future when I don’t remember anything of my twenties.
The original idea for the song “Tomorrow at my Fingertips” came about a few years ago when my friend Liam and I were writing song with the idea of advertising in mind. “Tomorrow at my Fingertips” being an idea for handheld devices/smart-phones. The idea was to do a light acoustic tune with the line “Tomorrow at my fingertips” being a key line.
I wrote lyrics not long after a tough break up. “I’ve got tomorrow at my finger tips, the taste of you still on my lips. A walking feeling in my shoes, but which direction I can’t choose….” And then it grew from there, the main theme of feeling emotionally lost and disconnected, and not knowing what to do with yourself.
Originally thought to be an acoustic low-key number in the style of William Fitzsimmons, Cat Stevens or Elliott Smith, in development it got more upbeat and a more “produced” sound, becoming what it is now.
